Cambodia Casinos

[ English ]

There is an interesting history to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gaming is not permitted. Eight gambling halls are based in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in a perfect spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a thriving business with Thai blue-collar workers and visitors from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing capital acquired from the gambling halls ranges from $7.5 million to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few controls requirements for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and though visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are ways around this, as is accurate of many border crossings.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving only one gambling den in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored ship casino, contains one hundred and fifty slot machine games and sixty tables. The Naga gambling den is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, 4 tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and one each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long followed. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slots and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 one armed bandits and 96 gaming tables, including 87 baccarat banque (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slots and sixty six of the normal tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the 8 casinos in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive vacation and hotel building that contains a number of comforts in addition to the casino, which houses 10,000 square feet of 130 slots and eighty eight tables.
